Modern Still Life Painting, Part 1
Detergent Bottle IV, 2008
Oil on Canvas Mounted on Panel, 22" x 24"
I am a still life painter. Over the last 12 years, I have become more specific in my imagery, working with plastic commercial containers you would typically find in supermarkets, used in packaging such things as detergent, shampoo, milk, fruit juice, etc.
I became conscious of these objects due to their shear numbers passing from household use to the waste recycling box year after year. I felt the need to paint them because of the wide variety shapes, sizes, colors and the quality of the materials (transparent, translucent or opaque) which affects the play of light.
The painting above is just one example of my work.
